Offering New Lyrical Class

We are excited to be adding a new lyrical class to our schedule to be held Tuesdays at 4:30p.m. and taught by Val Manchin.

The lyrical class compares to ballet but contains more fluidity and movement than traditional jazz. The class will consist of stretching and conditioning before combinations are taught.

Val Manchin was a performer with the American Dance Company for 5 years. Val was with the Gilbert Reed Ballet Company and has appeared in Carmen, Firebird, A Christmas Carole and Peter and the Wolf.

Calling all Boys

Calling All Boys for a special All Boys Hip Hop Class. If you are interested in dance, exciting moves and tricks, this might be the class for you. It’s an exciting “All Star Boys Hip Hop Class’ that really lets the guys show their stuff. This popular class builds overall body strength, stamina and flexibility.

Courtney Galiano teaches at PRDT

Courtney Galiano from ‘So You Think You can Dance’ Fame is teaching various Master classes at Pam Rossi’s Dance Ten for one day only. Courtney, who is a a contemporary dancer from Commack, New York has trained in lyrical dance, tap, jazz, ballet and hip hop and was a dancer on So You Think You Can Dance season 4. She made it all the way to the Top 4, and she was eliminated at 4th place. She is a contemporary dancer, but she excelled at every dance style they threw at her!

Pam Rossi’s Dance Ten is excited to have Courtney join the extended PRDT family and is looking forward to the classes.

Variety Power of Youth

Dancers from our dance studio will be performing with Naturi Noughton (Artist from the Fame Movie) at the Paramount New York City backlot for one of the biggest block parties in Hollywood. They will be dancing to the theme music ‘Fame’ and ‘Out here on my own’ which Naturi performed in the movie in support of Starlight Foundation. The day will be reconizing other teen celebrities such as CORBIN BLEU, MIRANDA COSGROVE, JESSE MCCARTNEY, ANNALYNNE MCCORD & KEKE PALMER.

Kristen Mesa

Kristen started her gymnastics training at the age of four. With a love for the sport she moved quickly to the advanced level of gymnastics. At the age of sixteen Kristen was asked to teach gymnastics and choreograph the yearly gymnastics demonstrations. Kristen’s gymnastics teaching background consists of teaching one year olds to adults, beginning to advanced gymnasts, training on the floor, bars, beam, vault, trampoline, mini trampoline and tumble trak trampoline. She also studied and taught rhythmic gymnastics, men’s gymnastics, gymnastics conditioning, cheerleading, stunting, tumbling and trampoline classes. Kristen is certified by USAG, KAT and the American Red Cross. Her students have gone on to use their training for television, film, commercials, competitive gymnastics teams, cheerleading teams, dance teams, university gymnastics teams, university cheerleading teams, and to become gymnastics instructors. Kristen has performed in and choreographed routines for numerous parades, exhibitions, has been featured in newspapers, television and dance routines. In school, Kristen was on the drill team and was co-captain of her cheerleading team, while studying and teaching gymnastics. She received her Associate degree in Radio and Television and has attended regional gymnastics training classes. Her teaching style is all about technique and form. Being able to share her knowledge with students and watch them grow into strong gymnasts is very rewarding to her.

Wishing on a Star… for a Cure

Our dance family – Anne Peters, Michele Peters, Alyssa Peters, and Joanne Pelletier and Keri Pelletier put together a dedicated group of dancers, a team called the TUTUs. They walked and raised money for the American Cancer Society. Gabe Barillas was a participant he walked sang and danced through the night to the next morning. He said “It was such a great cause to support. I hope we all can make a difference. I’m looking forward to next year.”

Lauren Persico

Lauren has loved the arts since she was young. She has had a full career dancing and singing for over 20 years. She enjoys all styles of dance. She has performed in musicals as Can Ca n, Carousel, West Side Story, Mame, Oklahoma and Peter Pan to name of few. In these plays she had performed at Lawerence Welk Resort, Reprise Broadways Best, South Bay, Santa Barbara , San Bernadino CLO, She also performed Knotts Berry Farm Saloon Can Can Show. She has been a performer on the Holland American Cruise Lines and has danced for Universal Studio Hollywood and at the El Capitan Theater for Toy Story. A featured dancers on Carlos and Jones Co. and a Principal dancer on AVO Ballet Company. Lauren has been a Physical Therapist Aide and also a degreed Personal fitness Trainer.

Melissa Sutherland

Melissa started teaching dance to young children when she was 18. Although she grew up training mostly in jazz and tap she found a real passion for ballet. Her love for dance continues inspire the children that she teaches. Melissa was trained by previous members of the Bolshoi Ballet, Prague National Ballet, National Ballet of Czechoslovakia. All teachers were trained in the Vaganova Method. Associate Degree in Liberal Arts emphasis in Dance. She was accepted into the Royal Academy of Dance in ballet teaching studies program. She is now studying to become a certified with Royal Academy of Dance.

Dance Ten participates in Moorpark Country Days

On Saturday, October 3rd 2009 the dedicated Dance Ten dancers woke up early in the morning to rehearse their dance routine for the Moorpark Country Days Parade later that day. They rehearsed over and over to Michael Jackson’s music with much enthusiasm. Many of the moms and dads carpooled our over 100 dancers to the starting parade site. Our exuberant and energetic performers danced down the streets of Moorpark with a big smile on their faces. Dance Ten and it’s students have participated in the Moorpark Country Days for 17 years and we are pround to be a part of our city. They were so much fun to watch as the crowd cheered them on. Great job dancers!
