Dance is a very creative and technical form of art. Our dance classes will challenge and inspire the beginner to the most advanced dancer. This balance between a challenging yet inspiring program must contain proper technique, sequence and terminology at all levels. The mixture of fun, creativity, energy, and the proper music are also big factors when determining if a program has been designed for optimal learning and enjoyment. Our class schedule offers a broad range of popular and traditional dance forms for all ages (3 & up) and all levels. Our school is designed to create and capture a student’s enthusiasm while emphasizing proper technique, sequence and terminology. We also provide the opportunity for our dancers to excel beyond recreational level. Many of our dancer have gone on to do Television, Commercials and Live Theater.
Pam Rossi’s Dance Ten also offers adult classes for those adults that danced when they were younger and want to get started again. For those that always wanted to as a child. But somehow just quite didn’t get the opportunity. You can do it now!
Adult Tap – Adult Tap is aimed at those adults who want to give tap dancing a go. For the aspiring hoofer, this class will have you doing a soft shoe to a time step. This class will start from the beginning of tap dancer technique to reach a point of balance, rhythm and tap dance progression. A variety of music is used in adult classes including rock, pop, disco and the classics! Come along for some great music, some fine dance and social atmosphere. Come learn all styles of tap and razzle-dazzle your friends and family. Students will have the opportunity to perform in the year end concert (optional). Casual work out attire and tap shoes required.
Adult Jazz – The Adult Jazz class is for fitness and fun. Different styles will be used throughout the year including Broadway jazz and hip hop/funk. Students will build their strength and flexibility while learning dance moves. Students will have the opportunity to perform in the year end concert (optional). Please refer to the Dress Code section on the site. Jazz shoes required.
Adult Lyrical – Class will have the fluidity of ballet and there is stretch and conditioning that will be taught before a combination will be learned.
Adult Ballet – This class will build strength and give the student a nice stretch for working toward wonderful flexibility. There will be a ballet barre combination taught. Cardio Barre will be taught to build stamina and conditioning. Adults will feel good and have some fantastic finesse as they leave class each week.
Intro to Dance – Our preschool “Intro to Dance’ is a 45 minute program they student will learn ballet and tap. Preschool dance classes get involved with lots of imagination and games to keep the interest and attention of young students. Children use large motor skill movements such as jumping, skipping and hopping, and are made aware of music and rhythm. Exercise for building physical strength and coordination are offered in a fun and nurturing atmosphere. Children also learn the discipline and and good listening skills required to learn.
Our combo class program is one hour and designed for the child that starts dance later then the preschool student. The combo class is divided into a half hour of ballet and a half hour of tap. The teacher guides the students to learn in a way that makes discovering movement, balance and listening skills. By the end of the year the students will memorize simple exercises to learn routines and learn vocabulary that will prepare them to become the best dancer they can be.
Jazz – Jazz dance is fun, high energy choreographed workout that involves learning basic postures, stretches and fundamental movements. Class begins with warm-up stretches and flexibility exercises as well as building strength. Jazz technique will then be taken across the floor combination and choreography which may incorporate some funky or hard hitting lines or isolation Fosse Style. Or it may reflect a little lyrical across the floor combination.. Jazz also encourages individual expression and the development of person style.
Hip Hop – Hip Hop is high energy funky street movement as seen in most music videos. Hip Hop has a range of styles, from break dancing, pop-n-locking. Hip hop dancing has such a broad genre, the teacher has much freedom and room for personal interpretation, and often mixes various styles freely, even mixing them with other dance forms such as jazz. Pam Rossi’s Dance Ten offers an exciting “All Star Boys Hip Hop Class’ that really lets the guys show their stuff. This popular class builds overall body strength, stamina and flexibility.
Tap – Tap students develop coordination, rhythm, strength and stamina. Basic techniques and rhythms are taught. Students will learn the basics and build from there. As students progress, a focus on control, speed and smoothness while exploring syncopation is taught along with more advanced steps. Down into the ground and close floor work with focus on speed and clarity of the tap sounds.
Musical Show – is a musical theater class designed to nurture “triple threat” performers- strong actors equally proficient in acting, vocal and dance technique. Vocal training in class focuses on diction, breath support, phrasing and performance with an emphasis in vocal stylization. Students will be immersed in professional vocal technique while studying modern, musical theater songbooks accompanied by staging, dance and theatrical movement. Students also engage in training such as improvisation, scene study, audition etiquette, and character analysis in a fun, encouraging environment. All of this hard work culminates into a production of a popular, Broadway musical at the end of the year, where each student is able to display their amazing talents.
Television Acting – is an exciting course encompassing acting and audition techniques geared toward the television and film industry. Students are immersed in traditional, theatrical acting training as a solid foundation while they learn what it’s like to be on camera, how to build a professional resume and take a great headshot. Be a star and explore improv, cold reading, cue card, memorization, and audition tricks that even the biggest pro would find invaluable.
